Role Overview
As Fleet Manager, you will take ownership of the day-to-day management, compliance, and performance of our transport fleet. You’ll ensure all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, remain fully compliant with DVSA regulations, and operate efficiently across our logistics network. Working closely with drivers, planners, and senior management, you will help to deliver a safe, effective, and forward-thinking fleet strategy.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the company’s fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles, ensuring all are roadworthy and compliant.
- Manage service schedules, MOTs, inspections, and defect reporting systems.
- Monitor and control fleet costs, including fuel usage, maintenance, and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with O-licence requirements and DVSA regulations.
- Work with the Transport Manager and planners to ensure vehicle availability aligns with operational needs.
- Lead on driver compliance, including tachograph analysis, licence checks, and working time directive monitoring.
- Implement vehicle tracking and telematics systems to optimise performance and safety.
- Liaise with suppliers, mechanics, and third-party maintenance providers.
- Identify areas for improvement in vehicle usage, sustainability, and cost-efficiency.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a fleet or transport management role (logistics sector preferred).
- Strong knowledge of fleet compliance, including DVSA standards, FORS, and O-licencing.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Confident using fleet and telematics software systems.
- Ability to manage and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment.
- CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) holder preferred.
- A proactive approach to safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
